VenturisIT expands BIM Competence

BIM – Building Information Modelling – describes a method for optimised planning, implementation and management of buildings. For TRICAD MS® users, that is simply a modern term for something that has been practised for 20 years. New wine in old wine skins!

Then TRICAD MS® has enabled a multiplicity of planning modules in the form of a ‘closed’ BIM as a cross-discipline CAD/CAE tool. We are naturally not complacent about this existing BIM competence in the VenturisIT genes as it were, but are successively expanding know-how – for example, Andreas Gudrian has received the BIM Basic Certificate from the TÜV SÜD Akademie. This means, amongst other things, being instructed on the current, development and application of the relevant BIM factors, knowing the legal principles as well as the opportunities, risks and obstacles.

Our seminar in Basle on 3 May showed that there is great deal of practical interest in BIM and that it is not just a lot of hype: The 45 participants gave us a positive feedback. We will give this seminar at least once a year in future.

Our tip: BIM is more than CAD; the 3D-geometry model is extended to include the parameters Costs and Time. BIM is therefore more a method, a strategic approach. BIM must therefore be basically and individually adapted to each project and for each client – the challenges are different in each case. But there is no need to be afraid of it: BIM is not witchcraft. You, as planner, use as much of this method as possible but only as much as necessary. Note: Digital transformation means concentrated change; it is not necessarily disruptive.
