Ansys GRANTA Selector 2020 – What’s New?

With this new release of the leading materials selection software, CES Selector is being renamed GRANTA Selector. We are bringing our materials software products together under a single GRANTA brand as we join the ANSYS family, following our acquisition by ANSYS, Inc. The name change also reflects a refreshed look-and-feel for the product and will be marked by some great enhancements in the new 2020 version.

About the Speaker

Mauricio Dwek is based in Lyon and works with academics and educators in Brazil, Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa. He holds a PhD in industrial engineering from the Grenoble Institute of Technology, where he worked in the eco-design team on the subject of critical materials, recycling networks and circular economy. He also has an MSc in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, during which he did research on the subject of engineering education and assisted in interdisciplinary projects for social development.

Materials-teaching with the new GRANTA EduPack software

Materials teaching has been a topic of extensive concern in recent years, with its breadth increasing dramatically because of the significant rise of commercially available materials. Meanwhile, the search for interdisciplinary knowledge has been identified as mandatory for today’s technological and innovation leaders. The subject of Materials is naturally at a crossroads, bridging science, engineering and design, making it extremely important to the next generation of engineers and other professionals.

This online session will introduce the GRANTA EduPack 2020 software, a leading tool used in over 1400 universities across the world for teaching materials-related topics. It will show examples of how to find and use the materials data in the software to visualize concepts on materials and processes. It will be structured around case studies to present the breadth of the materials databases available. Attendees will be able to see the properties of thousands of materials as well as manufacturing processes – including thermal, mechanical, electrical, optical, biomedical, environmental, social and geo-political properties – used in demonstrations on how to build interactive charts and how to select the best materials for a given application.
