Ansys ACT
With Ansys ACT, you can create a customized simulation environment that enables your engineering team to capture and use expert knowledge, specialized processes, and best practices, improving productivity, efficiency and effectiveness. The software enables you to encapsulate APDL scripts, create custom menus and buttons to incorporate your company’s engineering knowledge, embed third-party applications, and create your own tools to manipulate simulation data.
Overview
Ansys ACT enables you to encapsulate a customer's APDL script within Ansys Mechanical. You can create custom entities within Ansys Mechanical to incorporate your company’s best practices through menus and buttons — a user-friendly approach to expose complex capabilities. ACT capabilities allow you to embed third-party applications within Ansys Mechanical, ranging from external executables that compute data for pre- or post-processing all the way up to solvers. In addition, you can create tools to manipulate simulation data, such as meshing.
Features
Encapsulation of APDL Scripts
You can create buttons and menus to integrate proprietary APDL scripts and provide complex procedures to more users in your company. The menus and buttons that you create share the same look and feel as any other Ansys Mechanical object; in addition, they can scope geometric entities and manage unit systems. APDL scripts are protected from unwanted changes to ensure proper use of the procedures.
Add New Loads and Boundary Conditions
You can easily create menus and buttons using xml and Python as programming languages. New loads or boundary conditions then appear as regular Ansys Mechanical objects with their definitions, including scoping, geometry and definition of parameters. Commands are sent to the solver to include the load or boundary condition in the model's solution. One example of a new condition is inclusion of a specific spatial distribution for convection in a thermal analysis.
Create Custom Results
Many companies need to evaluate results against specific rules, such as norms. Other organizations have developed their own evaluation tools, such as fatigue estimators. With ACT, you can easily create a new result that is defined through some complex mathematical expression or generated from an external computation.
Integrate Third-Party Tools
With ACT, customers and Ansys partners can integrate their own simulation solution within Ansys Mechanical. The software enables you to leverage all the standard capabilities of Mechanical, such as bidirectional CAD connectivity, meshing and post-processing, while using your own solution to perform the simulation.
